Servite put up four goals to defeat the Centurions
Posted 03/04/2013 10:47PM

Servite took on the University City High School Centurions in the first round of the Regionals.  The game was action packed to say the least.  In the first half, Mike Wolitski nailed one in for the Friars to take an early 1-0 lead. A couple minutes later, the Centurions took a shot and it knocked off the upper post.  The Centurions weren’t finished, they shot later in the half and scored to tie up the match-up, 1-1. That didn’t set well with the Friars, which led to Daniel Munoz scoring another Friar goal minutes later to take the lead back.  At the half, the Friars were up by one.

The Servite defense completely took over shutting the Centurions out from any scoring in the second half.  Toward the end of the half, Elijah Barajas came through with another goal.  Servite wasn’t done yet though; Joey Gober hit one last goal to ensure that the Friars would advance to the next round of the playoffs. Servite defeated the University City team 4-1 and will play Canoga Park, this Wednesday, at 4 pm.  The location will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
