Wrestling Caps Historic Season with Four State Placers

The road to state concluded this weekend when Servite Wrestling competed at the CIF State Tournament! The Fight'n Friars qualified a school-record eight wrestlers for the prestigious tournament with four coming home from Bakersfield state placers.

As a team, the Friars finished 11th overall, the highest mark in school history and the top school in Orange County.

Individual placers included juniors Tristen Wilson (195)- 4th, Josh Medina (132)- 7th and Valor Buck (152)- 8th as well as senior Teddy Okada (138).

Coach Alan Clinton was also recognized before the state finals as the 2018 National Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Association, an award that was first announced in mid January.

The state meet marks the conclusion of the 2019 season for Servite with the Fight'n Friars winning the Trinity League Championship, two CIF titles and the first Masters Championship in school history!

What a memorable year!
