Servite Wrestling won this weekend's La Costa Canyon Tournament finishing with one champion and eight placers! The Fight'n Friars beat out Green Valley, Cherokee Trail, Laguna Hills and Boulder City to take the top spot for the first time this season after finishing as team runner-ups last season.
Teddy Okada won the individual title at 138lbs while Daniel Magaña (145) and Valor Buck (160) finished as runner-ups. Andrew Silva (120), Marcos Magana (132) each took 3rd while Freshman Marcus Medina (126), Roy Okada (152) and Tristen Wilson (195) rounded out the placers for the Friars finishing 4th.
After an opening round bye, T. Okada won by fall in three straight matches then earned a win decision to punch his ticket to the championship match. Facing off against Laguna Hills, Okada won by tech fall, 17-1 to clinch the tournament title.
Tournament action continues this Friday and Saturday when Servite hosts the Mann Classic at Marina High School.
