The 2018 Friars Baseball team left their mark on the Servite record books this season setting four new school records while tying a fifth. Senior Tanner Smith set new career records for games played (118) and at bats (339) while the pitching staff finished with the most strikeouts in school history tallying 224. In addition, the Friars combined for 13 triples, a new record, and tied the mark for most triples in a game with three.
A four-year letterman for the Friars, Tanner Smith set a new record for games played in a high school career with 118, blowing away the previous record held by R. Garko and T. Hogan of 101. He also set a new top mark for career at bats with 339, knocking off another one of Garko's records of 314.
Nine players on the Friars' pitching staff combined to set a new school record for strikeouts in a season recording 224 punch outs to break the previous record of 197 set in 2003. Christian Ciuffetelli led the Friars with 68 Ks on the season followed by Grant Newton with 61 and Matthew Strother and Jake Kenny with 35 each.
The Friars showed off their offensive power and speed this season setting a new Servite Baseball record for most triples in a season with 13 breaking the previous record of nine set in 1988, 2000 and 2001. Jarred Greene led the Friars with five followed by Garret Guillemette with four, Tanner Smith with two and Dawson Gilbert and CJ Masciel with one each. In addition, the Friars tied the mark for most triples in a game with three as Greene, Guillemette and Smith recorded triples in Servite's 10-1 win over LB Wilson.
