Senior Wrestler Mario Cazarin has signed with Colorado State University, Pueblo to continue his athletic and academic career at the collegiate level.
Cazarin was recognized for his achievements during a ceremony held last week in which his family as well as Coach Clinton and Coach Okada (pictured) were present. Coach Clinton shared, "Mario has put in the work and trusted the process giving his blood, sweat and tears to the sport and our team. We couldn't be prouder of him for earning this opportunity and know his best days on the mat are still to come!"
Cazarin was a two-year Varsity letterman for the Friars wrestling at 132lbs. In his senior season, he was selected as one of Servite's team captains, finished as Trinity League and CIF Runner-Up while earning a Masters berth and helped lead the Fight'n Friars to two CIF Runner-Up Championships.
Cazarin is the first wrestler from the Class of 2018 to make a commitment to wrestle in college while fellow grappler Jacob Espinosa will play Football at Pacific Lutheran in the fall.
