Posted 09/07/2017 04:56PM

For the Class of 2018, Cal Grant is a financial aid program administered by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) providing aid to California undergraduates who attend any University of California, California State University, California Community College as well as qualifying independent (private) institutions in California. To learn more about the qualifications, go to www.calgrants.org

Below, you will find the above mentioned form along with information explaining how your son's GPA is calculated to determine Cal Grant eligibility.

The California Student Aid Commission has advised all public and private high schools to submit their students GPA's by October 1, 2017. Early GPA submission will benefit students by allowing them to have earlier notification of their Cal Grant Award eligibility

If you wish for your son to participate in the Cal Grant Award, it is mandatory that you and your son fill out the information on the Cal Grant GPA Information Release form, and return the form to the Servite Counseling Office by no Monday, September 25, 2017

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application will be opening up on October 1, 2017. We strongly encourage families to complete the application to determine your son's eligibility and get early notifications starting in November.

Our Registrar, Ms. Valenzuela will be verifying and entering your son's GPA electronically into the Cal Grant System. Once submitted your son will receive a copy of the Cal Grant Submission from the Counseling Office. Even if you are still unsure if you qualify for the Cal Grant, you and your son are strongly encouraged to complete the attached Release Form and return it as soon as possible.

Please remember that all families are responsible for completing the FAFSA to complete the process of eligibility for a Cal Grant.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Andrea Valenzuela in the Academic Counseling Office at (714) 774-7575, extension 1134.

Sincerely,

The Counseling Office
