Academic Information

Servite High School graduation requirements are based on the entrance requirements of the California University systems. The courses offered are designed for the college-bound student and are taught at a college preparatory level unless identified as honors or advanced placement. Two hundred and seventy credits are required for graduation; a one-year course, meeting daily, would provide ten units of credit.

The graduation requirements for the 2016-2019 classes are:

Theology	40 credits
World Languages	30 credits (same language)
English	40 credits
Mathematics	30 credits (course work through Algebra 2)
Fine Arts	10 credits
Laboratory Sciences*	20 credits (Biology and one additional)
Social Studies	30 credits (World & U.S. History and Government/Economics)
Health/Computer Apps	10 credits (5 each)
Physical Education	10 credits
Electives	50 credits
Christian Service	100 hours over 4 years

* University of California and some other colleges require students to take one life science (Biology or Anatomy) and one physical science (Chemistry or Physics).

Standardized Testing

Standardized test are required for many 4-year colleges and Universities as part of the admissions review. We intentionally build in opportunities for students to experience standardized tests throughout their high school years. Freshman year students take the PSAT 9, Sophomore year students take the Pre-ACT, and Juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT. For our advanced students we administer AP tests each year, in May.

We are not an official SAT or ACT test site.

The freshman and junior classes take different versions of the PSAT at Servite in October. Freshman take the grade level modified PSAT 9. Juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT which will serve as a solid indicator of how well they will perform on the official SAT as well as potentially qualify the top tier of test takers for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Pre ACT

AP

AP Exams are administered during the first two weeks of May per College Board. A letter and test order form is sent home in early January to all students enrolled in an AP Course at Servite. The cost of each exam is $94.00. Contact Mrs. Anspach (AP Coordinator) if you have additional questions or need more information with regards to the test administration.

ACT/SAT Information

Many 4 year Colleges and Universities require the submission of a standardized college admissions test score in the application process. Which test you take and your testing timeline will vary based on certain factors including math course progression, college admissions goals, and content area strength. Meet with your counselor to discuss what will be the best path and testing plan for you based on your individual needs.
