Andrew Loughran ’22 Selected Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Karlie Carlson

At the end of each calendar year, Servite Athletics presents four special awards to student-athletes who excel in the classroom (Scholar-Athlete of the Year), on the field of play (Athlete of the Year), in the community (Frank Ryan Service Award) and personally (Sherer Courage Award). These awards are given out at our annual Hall of Fame Dinner and All Sports Banquet held at the Orange Hill Restaurant.

The Servite scholar-athlete represents a young man who is not only a varsity letterman but also a major contributor to the success of their athletic program while maintaining the highest GPA of all our student-athletes. This year’s scholar-athlete not only maintained the highest GPA of all the senior athletes but also the entire class of 2022 graduating as the Servite Valedictorian.

Our Scholar-Athlete of the Year was a four-year varsity letterman in tennis. He was a three-time All-Trinity League selection earning 2nd Team Singles honors as a freshmen, 1st Team Doubles accolades his junior season after winning the Trinity League Doubles Championship and 1st Team Singles recognition his senior season. As a team captain, he helped lead the team to back-to-back Trinity League Championships in 2021 and 2022 and the CIF-SS D3 Championship his junior year.

During his free time, he gave back to the community by being a co-founder and creator of the non-profit Serving Advantage which is a tennis program for children 8-13 years old with cognitive and/or developmental challenges. The certified nonprofit is committed to raising awareness for cognitive disabilities through tennis and high school student engagement. He is in his third year working with this organization and is responsible for daily management, fundraising, training, recruiting, social media, clinics and summer camps.

On campus, he is involved with our Priory Program serving on the Generalate as Secretary General. He is also involved with the National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation and the Servite Admissions Ambassadors program.

In the classroom, his academic schedule consisted of taking 13 Honors placement classes and 12 Advanced placement classes while being named a National Merit Commended Scholar. He earned Principal’s High Honor Roll with Distinction all four years and is graduating with a 4.93. He will be attending the University of Notre Dame in the fall.

Congratulations to the 2022 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Andrew Loughran!
