Chris Reinert ‘04 announced his decision today to step down as head football coach after three seasons with the Friars. During his tenure, he led the team to a 20-16 overall record with a trip to the CIF-SS DII Finals in 2023 and two DI playoff berths in 2024 and 2025.

Athletic Director Matt Marrujo ‘07 shared, “It has been a joy to work alongside Coach Reinert during his time at Servite. Beyond the tremendous growth we’ve seen in the program, he has put us in a fantastic position for the future. I am deeply grateful to the Reinert family for their sacrifice and to Chris for his tireless dedication to our student-athletes. His impact in developing faith-filled leaders will be felt for years to come.”

In addition to his success on the field, Reinert has helped 20 football players move on to compete at the collegiate level, including six from the Class of 2026.

Reinert said, “It has been an honor and the privilege of a lifetime to serve as the Head Football Coach of my alma mater. Servite High School is a uniquely special place because of the authentic relationships and bonds forged. I am grateful for the opportunity to have led such tremendous young men on their journey to becoming faith-filled leaders while simultaneously developing as football players. I will remember fondly the way we served our players, teaching life lessons and helping them compete on the gridiron. I am proud of the progress that we have made in the Servite football program, and I believe the future is very bright.

Prior to his time at Servite, Reinert spent over 10 years in the college space serving as an assistant coach at UCLA, Washington State, Arizona State, and the University of Colorado.

President Stephen Walswick ‘02 added, “On behalf of the Servite community, I am grateful for Coach Reinert’s leadership and service during his tenure as our head football coach. As an alumnus, he clearly demonstrated his commitment to our mission of forming faith-filled men, and we wish him success in his future endeavors.”

Servite High School is committed to providing the best education-based athletic program for all of our student-athletes. The hiring process will begin immediately with details regarding the selection process forthcoming. In the meantime, inquiries should be directed to Athletic Director Matt Marrujo at mmarrujo@servitehs.org.
