Senior Scott Schulz has committed to play basketball at Chapman University. The Friars’ 6’6 wing shared, “I chose Chapman because it was a great all-around fit for me. Chapman allows me to stay close to home, is known for its high academic standards, and has a great campus.” He went on to say, “I was specifically attracted to the basketball program because of their culture of playing together, playing for each other. I also connected well with the coaches and current players while visiting.”

A two-year varsity letterman for the Servite Basketball, Schulz earned 1st Team All-Trinity League honors his senior season after leading the team in points scored with 291 in 28 games played. He twice scored a career-high 22 points while finishing with 165 rebounds, 43 assists, 35 steals and 34 blocks in 2023.

Coach Tony Davis shared, “On behalf of the program, we are excited and proud of Scott for his commitment to play at the next level. He has worked extremely hard and has been a leader in the classroom and on the court for us since last spring. Scott was one of the most athletic and versatile players in the Trinity League this season, which gave him the unique ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. We look forward to following his collegiate career!”

A two-sport athlete for Servite, Schulz also competed in Track & Field for the Friars advancing to CIF in the High Jump while also participating in the Long and Triple Jumps. In addition, in his free time, he volunteered as a youth basketball coach and helped out at Servite’s summer camps.

In closing, Schulz shared, “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for making so many sacrifices so that I can go to Servite. Thank you for your endless love and support and for being great role models. To my brother Paul: thank you for constantly supporting me and pushing me to be the best man I can be. I also would like to thank the coaching staff for their help on and off the court. Thank you, Coach Davis and all of the staff, for trusting me on the court and giving me the opportunity to give it my all. I am very grateful for all my coaches who showed up in the mornings before school to help me work out and improve.”
