John Morris has resigned his position as head basketball coach after 12 seasons with the Friars. He will remain at Servite as a teacher and serve in other roles within the community.

During his time with the basketball program, he led the team to the playoffs nine times, advancing to the quarterfinals three times and the semifinals once.

Athletic Director Alan Clinton shared, “Servite would like to thank Coach Morris for his dedication to his alma mater and for setting an example for all his players of what it truly means to be a Servite Friar and a faith-filled leader. He has been influential in guiding his student-athletes on the court but also in setting the expectation for success in the classroom and in the community. We are grateful that he will remain a part of our Friar family.”

Coach Morris ‘01 said, “As an alum of Servite, it was an honor and privilege to serve as the head basketball coach over the last 12 years. I want to thank Servite and Alan Clinton for allowing me to help form the young men in our program both on and off the court. Thank you to all of the families for your support over the years. I am grateful for the desire, dedication, discipline and determination of each and every player in the program both past and present. I would also like to thank all of my assistant coaches for the countless hours they committed to forming the young men at Servite. Finally, I would like to thank my wife Casey for her love and support over the years. I will cherish the memories, the highs and the lows, and I look forward to the next chapter in Servite Basketball.”

Principal Stephen Walswick added, “Servite High School is dedicated to the formation of its students becoming the faith-filled leaders that God has called them to be. This is evident in Coach Morris having been previously recognized by the Orange County Athletic Directors Association who presented him the Coach of Character and Honor award. We will ensure that our next head basketball coach will be committed to this mission and the advancement of the basketball program.”

Servite High School is committed to supporting our student-athletes and finding the best fit to lead our young men moving forward. The search for Servite’s next head basketball coach will begin immediately.
