Twelve Servite student-athletes were recently recognized at our final signing day of the year for the Class of 2021 bringing the total to 26 seniors moving on to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year universities! Six sports were represented at the spring signing with soccer and volleyball leading all teams with three athletes each. 

Baseball:

Baseball finished 3rd in Trinity League in spring of 2021 and earned a CIF-SS Division 1 playoff berth. 

Carlos Rodriguez - Northern Vermont University
Rodriguez went the travel ball route playing two years for the CBA Titans as a left-handed pitcher. 

PJ Wendler - Claremont McKenna
Wendler is a four-year member of the Servite baseball program who pitched in relief for the Friars his senior season. He threw 24 innings earning two wins and two saves while striking out 18. 

Basketball:

Basketball earned a CIF-SS Division 2A playoff berth in 2021 advancing to the quarterfinals. 

Andrew Cook - Carroll College
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite, Cook set a school record this year tallying a new season-high in points scored with 617 while leading the Friars to the CIF-SS D2A quarterfinals. He also posted a career-high 47 points against La Habra, just two points shy of another school record while finishing in the top 10 all-time in career points. Cook earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition following his junior campaign with senior year honors yet to be announced. 

Football:

Football finished 4-2 on the shortened season finishing 3rd in Trinity League after extremely competitive games against Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. 

Kyle Bandy - University of La Verne
A three-year varsity letterman for Servite Football, Bandy earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition his senior season tallying a team-high 452 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. Throughout his high school career, he amassed 1,351 yards of total offense off 218 carries and 20 catches with 15 touchdowns in 26 games played for the Friars. 

Ben Florentine - Wyoming
A three-year varsity letterman, Florentine also wrestled for the Friars. In football, he earned 1st Team All-Trinity League recognition his senior season after tallying 26 tackles and a team-high six tackles for loss playing defensive end. Both Florentine and Bandy were also members of the Curia, Servite's eight-man senior leadership team. 

Lacrosse:

Lacrosse finished 3rd in Trinity League in 2021 and earned a CIF-SS Division 1 playoff berth in the inaugural year of the CIF Lacrosse Championships. 

Bryton Hickok - University of Tampa
A three-year varsity letterman, Hickok was selected to the Under Armour All-American West team as a defenseman in 2020. He also earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition in 2019 with no awards given in 2020 and senior honorees yet to be announced. 

Soccer:

The 2020-2021 team won their 8th consecutive Trinity League Championship while advancing to the CIF-SS Division 1 Semifinals and the CIF Regional Semifinals. All three of the seniors mentioned below were also members of the 2020 CIF-SS Division 1 Championship team. 

Denzel Barrientos - Hope International
A three-year varsity letterman, Barrientos earned 2nd Team All-Trinity League recognition as a junior playing in the midfield for the Friars. 

Jesus Melgoza - LMU
A four-year varsity letterman, Melgoza is a 2x 1st Team All-Trinity League selection and the 2020 Trinity League Offensive MVP. He also earned All-CIF and All-Orange County honors following his junior season with senior year awards yet to be released. Throughout this career he played in 85 games for Servite tallying 35 goals and 27 assists.  

Justin Nodarse - Concordia
A two-year varsity letterman, Nordarse played midfield for the Friars and helped lead the team to a league championship and impressive playoff run. 

Volleyball:

Volleyball finished 3rd in Trinity League and earned a playoff berth in the 2021 CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs advancing all the way to the semifinals before dropping a tightly-contested five-set match. 

Matthew Albano - Hiram College
Albano was among a talented group of setters that played for the Friars this season. He is headed to Hiram College to play for former Servite setter and current Head Coach of the Terriers, Kevin Kustura '11. 

Colin Ryan - UC Merced
In addition to volleyball, Ryan also played soccer for the Friars. In volleyball, he finished with 86 kills his senior season adding 20 blocks while playing middle. 

Peter Selcho - UC San Diego
A two-year varsity letterman, Selcho finished with a team-high 219 kills and 71 blocks playing middle for the Friars while adding 22 aces.
