Servite Baseball (17-9) opened the week with an exciting victory over No. 1 ranked Orange Lutheran handing the Lancers their first loss of Trinity League play! Freshman Trevor Schmidt earned the victory while junior Sean Galvin earned the save. Senior DH Sean Lugo also tallied all three RBIs for the Friars to help lead Servite to the win.

Orange Lutheran jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd but the Friars didn't wait long to answer scoring the tying and go-ahead runs in the 3rd. Mikey Santos started Servite off with a leadoff single before RJ Horvatin walked and Garret Guillemette singled to load the bases for Lugo. Lugo ripped an RBI single to center to bring in two and put the Friars in the drivers seat.

With the help of their defense, the pitching trio of Schmidt, Alec Rath and Galvin didn't allow another run but the Servite offense kept battling adding to their lead in the 5th inning. Once again the Friars put the leadoff runner on off a single from Emanuel Dean. A sac bunt by CJ Masciel and groundout from Garret Guillemette moved him over to 3rd for Lugo who knocked an RBI single to right, his third hit of the game, to extend Servite's lead to 3-1.

Galvin then struckout the final batter in the top of the 7th to seal it for Servite.

League play continues tonight at Hart Park at 7pm.
