Mikiah Negrete '22 becomes the second Friar selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, joining Roman Martin '23 as his name is called and a lifelong dream is realized. After concluding his collegiate career as the Friday night starter for Cal State Fullerton, the Colorado Rockies selected him in the 10th round as the 284th overall pick. 

Impressively, Negrete becomes the 5th member of the talented 2022 class to turn pro, joining his former teammate Xavier Cardenas (MLB - Marlins) as well as Mason Graham (NFL - Browns), Tetairoa McMillan (NFL - Panthers), and Max Thomas (Track & Field). 

Mikiah Negrete '22 - Servite / CSUF LHP

A two-year varsity letterman and member of the starting rotation for your Friars, Ki Negrete earned 1st Team All-Trinity League accolades in his junior and senior seasons, pitching, playing first base, and hitting for Servite Baseball. He also earned 2nd Team All-Orange County recognition after throwing seven complete games in 2022 with a 1.54 ERA. His prowess on the mound earned him Servite Most Valuable Pitcher honors in both 2021 and 2022 as well. 

Negrete first signed with the University of San Diego after high school, where he spent his freshman season with the Toreros before transferring to Fullerton for the remainder of his collegiate campaign. In 2023, Negrete appeared in 17 games out of the bullpen for USD, tallying 20 strikeouts in 25 innings of work. 

In making the move to Fullerton, he also earned his spot as a weekend starter, taking the mound in 45 games, pitching 264.2 total innings, with 241 strikeouts. In his final year with the Titans, he tossed three complete games and earned 9 wins, finishing with a 2.70 ERA. In 2026, he was an All-Big West First Team selection and a two-time Big West Pitcher of the Week (3/30 & 4/20) while earning Big West Honorable Mention in 2025.
