Guitar students from the Servite High School attended the Columbus State University Guitar Symposium this past weekend in Columbus, GA.
The CSU Guitar Symposium is an annual event bringing together guitarists from around the world for education and artistic stimulation. The festival consists of guest artist concerts, masterclasses, lectures, and an international competition with divisions for middle school through professional levels.
Professional artists participating in the event included Amadeus Duo, Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, Grisha Goryachev, Li & Zohn Duo, and Syracusa GuitarDuo.
The students who participated were Ethan Borsari (sophomore), Andres Urbina (junior), and Vincent Mann (senior). They had one-on-one masterclasses with Adam Holzman (legendary American virtuoso and professor at UT-Austin), Silviu Ciule (Romanian classical and flamenco guitarist and professor at UF) and Andrew Zohn (American virtuoso, professor at CSU). In addition, students participated in a class with Grisha Goryachev (the world's pre-eminent flamenco virtuoso), attended lectures, concerts, and competed in a competition. Andres Urbina won 2nd prize in the competition. Andres also participated in a class with Bruce Holzman (most influential guitar teacher in the country) and received a scholarship offer to study with Professor Holzman at Florida State University.
