Alumnus Chris Weir will become the school’s next leader effective July 1, 2022

ANAHEIM - Servite High School, a leading all-male, Catholic college preparatory high school, announced today that alumnus Chris Weir will become the school’s next president effective July 1, 2022. A 1997 graduate of Servite, Weir succeeds Randall Adams, who announced his plans to retire in February. The decision to hire Weir was unanimously approved by the school’s Board of Directors following the recommendation of a selection committee formed following Adams’s retirement announcement.

“We are most excited about Chris Weir coming on board as the new President of Servite High School,” said Philip Stump, Chairman of Servite’s Board of Directors. “Randy Adams has done a marvelous job over the last four years building a strong foundation of professional leadership for the school.  Chris's unbridled enthusiasm for Servite and his extensive experience in Catholic education make him the ideal fit to take the helm as we seek to expand Servite's impact on and support from the communities we serve.”

Weir has dedicated his professional career to Catholic education, most recently serving as Assistant Principal at Holy Innocents School in Long Beach. Prior to his role at Holy Innocents, Weir was Vice President of the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, which is dedicated to renewing Catholic schools by drawing upon the Church’s tradition of education. Weir previously worked at Servite from 2005 to 2017 in a variety of roles including Director of Admissions, Director of Leadership Development, and Associate Director of Formation.  During his previous tenure at Servite, he oversaw significant enrollment growth and was actively involved in the development of the school’s signature Formation and Priory Leadership programs.

Tim Buckley ‘73, Vice-Chair of the Servite Board of Directors, led the presidential selection committee during its comprehensive, months-long process. “On behalf of the selection committee, we are excited that Chris Weir will be the next President at Servite High School,” Buckley said. “Chris’s understanding of the Servite charism and his experience as an excellent collaborator will provide the necessary leadership for the students, faculty, and administration. Indeed, the future looks great at Servite.”

Weir, who holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theological studies from Loyola Marymount University, looks forward to leading his alma mater. “The Church’s vision of education has never been more needed than it is today. Couple that fact with Servite’s unique tradition of forming faith-filled leaders and singular position as the only Catholic all-boys high school in Orange County, and what you have is an unprecedented opportunity to serve and evangelize. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the Servite community in this capacity and I look forward to working alongside so many great men and women—many of them close friends and former colleagues—as we chart the next chapter for Servite High School.”

Fr. Eugene Smith, Prior Provincial of the Order Friar Servants of Mary and himself a Servite alumnus, expressed his confidence in Weir’s ability to continue the school’s legacy and lead the school into the future. “Chris Weir’s experience of Servite as a student, alumnus, former faculty member, and administrator affords him a unique knowledge and love for the school and its wide-ranging community which we are confident will guide his leadership as Servite’s next President,” said Smith. “We look forward to the energy and vision he will bring to advancing Servite’s mission, in fidelity to the charism of the Servite Order and its tradition of faith, service, and devotion lived in a spirit of passion and excellence.”

Weir and his wife, Annie, live in Long Beach, with their three children, Lizzie, Maggie, and Liam. They are parishioners of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, where Lizzie and Maggie attend school. Liam will join them in the fall of 2023.
