After a rigorous recruitment process, we are pleased to announce that John “Jack” Conklin will join Servite as Dean of Students and Director of Priory Leadership effective July 1, 2019.

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, Jack is a lifelong practicing Roman Catholic and attended Catholic schools.  He and his wife, Leigh Ann, have been married for more than 30 years and have two adult daughters. Jack has a BS in Occupational Studies and an MS in Emergency Services Administration, both from California State University in Long Beach.

Jack recently retired from the Brea Police Department after nearly 30 years, serving as the Chief of Police for the last eight years.  His law enforcement career spans 32 years, beginning as a deputy sheriff with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 1986 before joining the Brea Police Department as a patrol officer in 1989.  Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of progressively responsible positions ranging from Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Professional Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Captain before becoming Chief of Police.  Throughout his career, Jack has demonstrated leadership and ethical decision-making that closely aligns with the Servite mission.

“My life was shaped by my parents who blessed me with the gift of faith and sacrificed to provide me with a Catholic school education,” Conklin wrote in his application.  “As the product of a twelve-year Catholic school education, I appreciate the sense of belonging and community that exists on a Catholic school campus. I value being a part of an organization with a shared vision and organizational values and hope to experience that again as a member of the Servite High School family.”

The hiring committee was impressed with Jack’s dedication to public service, his ability to identify and nurture talent, his ties to the community, and his vast experience with public safety.  Although Jack’s official start date is July 1st, he will be on campus periodically over the next 45 days for transition and planning. Please join us in welcoming him to the Servite community.
