Servite Scholar-Athlete of the Week (10/28/20)
What is your favorite subject? Why? Any science class (biology, chemistry, etc.) because I enjoy learning about the inner workings of everything; I especially enjoy the labs that the class partakes in.
What teacher has most impacted you here at Servite? Why? The teacher that has impacted me the most here at Servite is Mr. Powers. While his class is rigorous, I appreciate the relationships he forms with his students. His "bird walks" are a highlight of his class; they are basically tangents that he goes on during class. However, these "bird walks" usually have a significant moral and connection to life.
Advice for freshmen on how to balance the academic and athletic rigors at Servite: My advice for freshmen on how to balance their academic and athletic rigors at Servite revolves around time management. To be a successful student-athlete requires structured time management. You should make an effort to not procrastinate because it will always come back to hurt you.
What else are you involved in at Servite? Other than wrestling, I am involved in Priory, Trinity Corporation, and Judo. As a Prior, I head a group of Assistant Priors, who in turn will teach Priory classes to students. Within Trinity Corporation, I hold the title of Senior Manager of Food Services. It is my job to oversee the operations of the Servite kitchen alongside the VP of Food Services; I hold the second-highest position within the kitchen. While not officially part of Servite, I also do judo. After wrestling practice, I stay at school and partake in judo classes. Coach Tony Okada (he coaches Team 1 alongside Coach Clinton) is one of my senseis.
Career interest- After I graduate from Servite, I plan on going to medical school. My career interest is being a doctor; I would ideally want to be a pediatrician or general physician, but I am also open to being a specialist or a surgeon.
Classes you’re currently taking- AP US Government, AP Chemistry, HP Critical Reflections, AP English Literature, AP Calculus (BC), CP Anatomy/Physiology
