It is with great pride but also sadness that we announce that Rory Prager '07 has accepted an assistant coaching position with USC Volleyball! Coach Prager joined the Servite coaching staff for the 2010 season following his collegiate playing career at Long Beach State and has worked on campus full time as the Assistant Dean then Math teacher since 2013. On behalf of the Servite community we thank Coach Prager for his dedication to his alma mater and wish him the best of luck at USC!
LOS ANGELES--Rory Prager, who has coached at the club and high school levels, has been named an assistant men's volleyball coach at USC, Trojan head coach Jeff Nygaard announced today (Aug. 28).
Prager, 30, was a coach with the Balboa Bay Volleyball Club for 3 years (2017-19). He led the 17-2s team as head coach to a first place finish in the USA Division at the 2019 USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championships. Before that, he was an assistant with the 17-1s team that placed fifth in the 2017 and 2018 Open Division at the Junior Nationals.
He also spent the past 9 years (2011-19) as an assistant coach with the boys team at Servite High in Anaheim (Calif.). During his tenure, numerous Friar players earned college volleyball scholarships and four were named high school All-Americans. Servite won 3 Trinity League titles (2012-15-19) with Prager on the staff, with the 2012 team ranked fifth nationally. He also taught mathematics at Servite the past 4 years (2014-19).
Prager was an outside hitter at Long Beach State in 2008. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from there in 2012.
He was a 2-time (2006-07) All-League selection in volleyball at Servite. He also competed for the Highline club team.
He is married and his wife's name is Chelsea.
