COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.
We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

With all that said let’s take a look at today’s Preseason Preview of the Servite Friars.

SEASON OUTLOOK:
Playing in the always deep Trinity League, the Servite Friars are expecting to be competitive in 2021 as they bring back 4 starters and 6 pitchers from the 2020 season. With a roster that has 10 College Commitments, the Friars are going to have talent on both sides of the game. The shortened 2020 season has allowed Coach Gilbert to get the Friars focused on their fitness and the extra time spent in the weightroom has helped the team become much more physical and ready to handle the rigors of the Trinity League. The stable for this team will come from their returning arms and ability to play defense. With that type of a focus, the Friars are looking to be fundamentally sound and give their offense the ability to support them with big innings. As most teams in the CIF Southern Section, the Friars are expecting the battles in season to help prepare them for a playoff run and another successful season.
