Help us congratulate Rev. Brian Nunes, Servite Class of 1982, on being appointed by Pope Francis as auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles!
In a publication by Cardinal-designate Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States, Pope Francis appointed Rev. Brian Nunes along with three others as auxiliary bishops of Los Angeles. Rev. Nunes will be appointed on September 26th, 2023 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
After Rev. Nunes graduated from Servite High School in 1982, he continued his education at Loyola Marymount University, where he earned a degree in Communications, with the hope of working in broadcasting. He pursued a career in print journalism working at Business Wire for almost twelve years. After a short stint in technical support and network administration, he started to inquire about the priesthood.
In May of 2008, Rev. Nunes was ordained a priest starting at Mary Star of the Sea in San Pedro as administrator. From 2015-2019, he served as priest-secretary to Archbishop José Gómez while also serving as vice-chancellor, vicar general, and moderator of the curia of the Archdiocese.
We wish Rev. Brian Nunes many blessings as he takes on this vital new ministry.
