Senior Michael Marci has committed to play tennis at the University of Saint Katherine. The Friars’ captain shared, “I chose USK because it is in California, it has a tennis team that I’m excited a part of, and it has the major that I wanted to study.” 

A four-year varsity letterman and starter for Servite Tennis, Marci boasts an overall career record of 144-32 as a singles player, an impressive 82% win rate. He is a two-time 1^st Team All-Trinity League selection individually while helping lead the Friars to a CIF-SS Championship in 2021 and back-to-back Trinity League team titles his sophomore and junior years. During Marci’s high school career, the team went 59-5 overall despite losing the majority of the 2020 season to COVID. In addition to his league accolades, Marci was also honored with the Servite Friar and Coaches awards from the program.

Coach JP Jugo ’05 shared, “I am really excited for Michael and his opportunity to continue playing tennis at the next level. He has put in countless hours tirelessly working at honing both his physical talents as well as his mental game. I know that Michael has the determination and grit to continue his success.” He went on to say, “Michael was a true game-changer and leader for our program these past four years and his presence both on and off the court will be sorely missed. His Servite brothers and I look forward to watching him compete and continue making us proud.”

Marci, who plans to study Business Management at USK, is also involved with the Motor Sports Club and Campus Ministry committee outside of his tennis commitments.

In closing Marci added, “I would like to thank my family for introducing me to tennis and always supporting and pushing me to do better through my wins and my losses. Most of all, I want to thank them for letting me do what I love and having fun with it. I would also like to thank Coach Jugo for leading our team to a CIF Championship and my private coach Camelia for training me to play the way I do and helping me enjoy the way that I play. Finally, thank you to the Servite community that came to support our matches and cheer for us along the way.”
