Servite High School is proud to announce the hiring of Matt Kanne ‘07 as head basketball coach. Coach Kanne brings over 15 years of experience to the Friars having dedicated his professional career to transforming youth basketball by founding one of the largest grassroots basketball organizations in the country.

Athletic Director Matt Marrujo shared, “I am excited to welcome Matt Kanne as the next Servite Basketball coach. He is an experienced leader who has a proven track record of success.  He has a deep commitment to Servite's values and his vision for Servite basketball aligns perfectly with our mission of forming faith-filled leaders both on and off the court."

Coach Kanne has spent the last seventeen years building a nationally recognized youth basketball organization at Open Gym Premier in Anaheim. He has years of coaching experience but more recently focused on building a robust team and infrastructure, award-winning culture and growing business. A respected leader in the sports landscape, Kanne has been engaged as a consultant for Adidas, the NBA and several other top brands. 

He shared "I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead the Servite basketball program forward. No experience in my life was more formative to the person I am today than my time at Servite playing basketball. The excitement, challenge, growth, brotherhood, faith and formation at the core of Servite basketball is indescribable. The work begins immediately to catapult Servite basketball to the next level."

A former shooting guard for the Friars, Kanne went on to play basketball at Chapman University where he earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. His wife Alexandra, a 2007 Rosary alumna, and his three sons will join him as part of the Friar community.
