Cross Country competed in Friday's Trinity League Preview at Central Park in Huntington Beach with the JV & F/S squads combining to take 1st overall while the varsity team finished as runner-ups. 

Junior Manny Lopez won the varsity race coming in at 15:35.1 with Peter Beerer also placing in the top 5 posting a time of 16:01.7. Five Friars placed in the top 10 in the JV/FS race led by Matthew Barrientos who finished 2nd followed by Nolan Rising in 4th, Matthew Mendez in 6th, John Silveira in 7th and Brendan Week in 9th. 

The team overall is off to a fast start this season. Lopez has been dominant throughout winning the La Serna Summer Series before leading the varsity squad to a race win at the Pat Hadley Memorial Invitational. 

The sophomore team won their division at both Cool Breeze and Woodbridge Invitationals while freshman Samuel Cortez took first in his grade level race at the PHM Invite. 

To top it off, the program set a new school record at Woodbridge finishing with a new fastest team time in the 3-mile race coming in at a combined 78:09! 

Next up, the Friars travel to Clovis then compete at the OC Championships and Mt. SAC Invitational before closing out regular season competition at Trinity League Finals on November 1st.
