Servite High School is excited to announce the hiring of Anthony Davis as head basketball coach. Coach Davis will fill the opening left following Coach John Morris’s resignation.

Athletic Director Alan Clinton shared, “We are extremely excited about this hire and have the utmost confidence in Coach Davis and his ability to lead our basketball program moving forward. Tony is a proven winner with an extensive resume of success and commitment to helping his players become the best versions of themselves. We strongly believe that he will make a positive impact in mentoring our student-athletes both on and off the court and shares in Servite’s mission of Forming Faith-Filled Leaders.”

Coach Davis brings over 15 years of high school coaching experience to the Friars and a championship pedigree having won two CIF-SS titles and 12 league championships during his tenure at Mayfair High School in Lakewood. Since taking over the program in 2007, Davis has been named CIF Coach of the Year twice while accumulating more than 300 victories including eight 20-win seasons with a 72% win percentage. In addition, he led his teams to the second round of the playoffs or further 13 times with six appearances in the quarterfinals and three in the finals. He also made four state appearances, advancing to the semifinals twice.

Coach Davis said, “I am truly excited to join the Servite community and help these young men grow into leaders on and off the court. I believe in creating a program centered around family, accountability and togetherness where members become part of something larger themselves while learning important life lessons and developing their God-given talents. I look forward to instilling those pillars as we build together at Servite.”

Davis has mentored 30+ players who have moved on to play at 4-year universities including 15 at the NCAA Division 1 level. He also coached 1st Round NBA Draft pick and current Houston Rocket, Josh Christopher, as well as four McDonald's All-American Game nominees, two Maxpreps All-Americans, three John R. Wooden Award recipients, two Naismith All-Americans and three players ranked in ESPN’s Top 100.

As an athlete himself, Davis was a three-year starter at point guard at Whittier College where he earned his BA in Business Administration before going on to earn his MA in Education with a credential in Physical Education from National University.

Principal Stephen Walswick added, “Within minutes of my first conversation with Coach Davis, I knew he was the right person to lead our basketball program. His integrity, work ethic, family spirit, and faith align with our values here at Servite High School. I am excited to see how he will share his time and talents with our student-athletes and the community as a whole.”

Servite High School would like to welcome Coach Davis, his wife Rosalyn and daughter Naomi, to the Friar family.
