Principal's Message
Dear Servite Parents, Alumni and Friends:
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all members of the Servite community. Although there have been academic and athletic changes in leadership, the principles of Servite will always be inspired by the life and example of the Blessed Virgin Mary. You must remember that our seven holy founders devoted themselves to the Marian Spirit and imitated her example of openness, compassion and hope. This school year still brings the academic, spiritual, and emotional growth based on these principles and therefore, I have faith that we will always serve Christ, Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary to the best of your ability.
As many of you know, the Servite Formation Program will be an area of both focus and emphasis this year. Drawing on the ideals of leadership, teamwork, spirituality, responsibility, perseverance, and initiative, the formation program began with the class of 2009 and will eventually expand to cover all four grade levels. The ultimate goal of the program is to provide all students with structured opportunities to become self-motivated, servant based leaders and role models at Servite, in college, and in the community. In summary, the Formation Program will give students the opportunity to live Servite's motto: Credo Ut Intelligam (I Believe In Order To Understand).
Even though Formation is emphasized, all Servite academic programs are designed to support Formation and provide all students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for College. In order to achieve this, each department has reassessed their learning objectives/standards, created curriculum maps/pacing guides and aligned textbooks with curriculum and our new One to One Student Tablet PC Program. At the same time, we have increased our Fine Arts Department by adding new courses (Choir, Jazz Band and Film Studies).
The Servite High School administration will always place a strong emphasis on the Four D's...Dedication, Desire, Discipline, and Determination and a willingness to embrace change. I truly believe that, if we work collaboratively, we can achieve great things. In the words of Michelangelo, "I saw the angel in the marble and I carved until I set him free."
Best Wishes,
Michael P. Brennan
