April 2008 - Mary's House Ministries expanded to a weekly outreach called Her Servants' Kitchen. Each Thursday - in the Servite tradition of service to others - the young men beg food, prepare dinner and serve it to a community of homeless men and women who live in and around La Palma Park in Anaheim. This student led ministry has never missed a Thursday and to date, has served more than 31,000 meals and distributed over 2,300 pieces of warm clothing and 1,000 blankets.
The Servite men provide more than just a meal, they offer friendship, prayer and hope to a community that has become friends. In the beginning 12 -20 meals were served each week, soon that grew to 60 then 80 and now from 90-100. What started as a few volunteers has become 11 student leaders joined by members of the assigned priory and other students and guests who enjoy serving others.
Without the leadership provided by the Her Servants' student team and the commitment of our volunteers, this ministry would not have grown. Thank you to everyone who has supported Her Servants' Kitchen with your donations, time and prayer.
HSK meets every Thursday at 3:00 in the school cafeteria. If you would like to learn more about Her Servants' Kitchen, please contact April Callos at 714-774-7575 x1432 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
