Her Servants' Kitchen

And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'

History of Mary’s House

Mary's House began in 2005 as way for the freshmen class (future 2009 grads) to help a family that had been put out on the street. They began a buck a month club to raise money, held fundraisers  and collected enough donations to make it possible for this family to find a new place to live, pay their rent and purchase food. Because they were able to stand at the foot of this family’s cross to support them in their darkest hour, the house where the family lives is named Mary’s House. They were happy they could help one family but wanted to do more.

Her Servants' Kitchen

April 2008 - Mary's House Ministries expanded to a weekly outreach called Her Servants' Kitchen. Each Thursday - in the Servite tradition of service to others - the young men beg food, prepare dinner and serve it to a community of homeless men and women who live in and around La Palma Park in Anaheim. This student led ministry has never missed a Thursday and to date, has served more than 13,000 meals.

The Servite men provide more than just a meal, they offer friendship, prayer and hope to a community that has become friends. In the beginning 12 -20 meals were served each week, soon that grew to 60 then 80 and now from  90-100. What started as a few volunteers has become 12 student leaders joined by members of the assigned priory and other students and guests who enjoy serving others.

Without the leadership provided by the Her Servants' student team and the commitment of our volunteers, this ministry would not have grown. Thank you to everyone who has supported Her Servants' Kitchen with your donations, time and prayer.
