March 2nd, Servite High School hosted its third Annual Excellence in Leadership Formation Dinner. This year, Servite honored 3-time Emmy Award winner, author, professor of law, and national radio talk show host, Hugh Hewitt; a distinguished retired faculty member and coach, Dale Eccleston; and a distinguished alumnus, USC All-American, All-Pro Center Carolina Panthers player, Ryan Kalil.
The first honoree was Mr. Dale Eccelston, a distinguished Servite faculty member. Eccelston was best known for his excellence in teaching English in a unique and memorable way. As the video of him played, members of the audience roared with laughter. It was clear hundreds of Mr. Eccelsteon’s students were in the room sharing their memorable stories about him. He was honored for his dedication and commitment to all of the men he taught over the 28 years he served at Servite High School.
Award winner Hugh Hewitt was next to be honored on the beautiful stage that night. He took over the stage with pride, leaving the audience with several laughs. He has been connected to Servite for many years and had nothing but exceptional things to say about the leadership of the High School and their dedication to service.
Last to be honored was Ryan Kalil, Servite High School class of 2003. Ryan is currently an All-Pro Center for the Carolina Panthers. Ryan was honored for his excellence in leadership on and off the football field. Kalil demonstrated his faith and leadership that night when he turned what was meant to be an honor to him, into a message about the foundation he is starting in honor of his High School quarterback, Ryan Coffelt. Coffelt was diagnosed 5 months ago with stage 4 brain cancer. Coffelt stated that he“has the money for now to handle his own medical bills” and is looking forward to working with Ryan to “point the foundation toward helping others.”
