Steven Saucedo has committed to play soccer at Holy Cross College becoming the 3rd Friar from the Class of 2017 to go on to compete at the collegiate level.
The senior defender shared, "As I was on the search for the right college fit, I wanted to find the place that felt most like home. When I visited campus, I felt a warm welcome from the whole Holy Cross Community. Team members made me feel like a brother, they took me in as one of their own, and I loved it!" He went on to say, "The Holy Cross Soccer Program has had success in the past, and I feel that there is a lot of potential in the program to rise to the top! Overall, the brotherly bond attracted me to the program/school."
A four-year member of the Servite soccer program, Steven helped the Friars win the So Cal HS Classic in 2017 as well as their 4th consecutive Trinity League title.
Coach Jon Spencer commented on Saucedo's commitment saying, "I am excited to see Steven commit to Holy Cross College. He has worked hard over the past four years and has shown that he is prepared for college soccer. Steven has primarily played Center Back throughout his career at Servite. This year he showed some great diversity in his game playing right back as well. Off the field Steven has excelled in the classroom and has also been a leader on campus. I am proud of who he has become here at Servite. I am also happy to see him continue his soccer career in college. He will be an excellent asset to Holy Cross."
Off the field, Saucedo has been involved in the Servite Priory Leadership Council serving as a Prior this year. He is also a member of the California Scholarship Federation and National Honor Society and volunteers with Higher Ground.
Saucedo added, "I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve my goal of playing college soccer. My family, friends, and coaches have all helped me in some way, and I am beyond grateful for all the dedication and support all these years. I especially want to give a huge thank you to my parents for being by my side for the whole ride. I couldn't have done it without them. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this next stage in my life. I can't wait to get started. Go Saints!"
