Frequently Asked Questions
What now?
It is very important that prospective students plan on attending our Open House. While it is not a requirement for admission, this is one of the best ways to experience Servite and for us to get to know applicants.
OPEN HOUSE WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2007 FROM 1:00-4:00 PM
When is the Entrance Exam?
The Entrance Exam will be given at Servite High School on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 8:00 AM.
How do we register for the Entrance Exam and what is the fee?
Pre-registration is required to take the Entrance Exam. Please return the registration form that is included with your application materials. There is a $50 non-refundable exam fee.
Will a make-up exam be given?
Yes, the make-up exam will be administered on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 8:00 AM.
What criteria is used for admission?
Academic aptitude, character and leadership potential are assessed through academic records from 7th and 8th grade, standardized test scores, entrance exam scores, recommendation forms and personal interviews.
How does the Early Admission process work?
While all prospective students are encouraged to apply early, only those applicants with the highest academic records will be admitted early (solid grades in all core subjects and above average standardized test scores). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis but will not be considered complete without a first quarter or trimester report card from the 8th grade. Decisions can be made as soon as complete applications are received. If a student is not accepted early, his application will automatically be considered in the regular admission process.
When are regular admission decisions made?
Decision letters will be mailed by February 29, 2008.
How is Honors Placement determined?
Honors Placement for incoming freshman is determined by the Admissions Committee upon acceptance. Due to the wide variety of schools and curricula from which our students come to us, Honors Placement for the freshman year is based primarily on Entrance Exam and Math Challenge Exam scores. Decisions made by the Admissions Committee are final and, once admitted, students cannot “opt into” the Honors Program. Honors Placement for the sophomore, junior and senior years is open to all students and is based upon the student’s performance at Servite.
