Coach Mike Lussier

Mike Lussier – Head Varsity Soccer Coach

Coach Lussier became the varsity soccer coach at Servite in 1998. Since that time he has established one of the most successful high school soccer programs in Orange County. In his first thirteen seasons as the head coach at Servite he has amassed an overall record of 200-101-53; led the soccer program to their first league championship in 20 years when they won the prestigious Serra League in 2004, and won ten major tournaments: the Southern California High School Showcase (Nautical Cup 2009), the Los Angeles Burroughs Tournament, the Brea-Olinda Tournament, the Western Christian Tournament (2006,2007), the Upland Tournament (2008) and the San Marcos Tournament in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006 (held at UCSB). Within the Servite soccer program Coach Lussier has coached 26 players who have gone on to play college soccer. Seventeen of these former players have competed at the NCAA Div.I level. In 2006, two former players won the NCAA Division I National Championship while playing for UCSB, and in 2009 one of these players (Chris Pontius) was drafted #7 overall in the MLS Superdraft.

In club competition, Coach Lussier is the head coach of the BU18 Pateadores team (SCDSL). In just one year since assuming the head coach position with this team he has taken it from the silver elite level to the Cal South State Championship and a top 5 Regional Ranking. He has also led the team to 2 tournament championships (Chelsea Kick Off Tournament, and Santa Barbara Cup), two cup finals (Pats Cup, and NHB) and a league title (2010). The boys under 18 team also won the state championship for its age group in 2011 by winning the prestigious Cal South National Cup Championship (BU17 Cal South State Champions). Coach Lussier’s previous club teams have included the BU19 Canyon Classic team and the Pateadores BU19 White team. Throughout his tenure with each of these teams Coach Lussier led them both to league championships and to several tournament championships. These prestigious tournament championships include: the Arsenal International Festival (held in London, 2007), the San Diego Pegasus Cup, Surf College Cup, NHB Tournament, Slammers Cup, Pats Cup and the Celtic Cup. Both of these teams in their final season finished top 5 in their region and in the top 20 in the nation for their age groups as determined by gotsoccer.com. Several of the players who participated in these teams moved on to play for NCAA schools such as UCSB, Sacramento State, CSUF, USF, USAF, Cal Poly SLO, UC Davis, Chapman and UCI.

As a youth, Coach Lussier attended and played for El Dorado High School from 1989-1992. After graduating from high school he played NCAA college soccer for California State University Fullerton (NCAA Div. I). As a member of the 1993-94 CSUF Final Four team Coach Lussier had the opportunity to play against the U.S. National Team in a World Cup 94 tune up match. Since concluding his collegiate athletic career, Coach Lussier's love of the game of soccer and his competitive spirit are reflected by the fact that he still plays both outdoor and indoor soccer.

Coach Lussier received his MS (2001) and BS (1998) from California State University Fullerton in Kinesiology. While pursuing these degrees he received the following academic honors: CSUF Department of Kinesiology Most Outstanding Student Award 1997, Sigma Pi Outstanding Scholar Award 1997 and 1998, CSUF Deans List 1992-1998.

Coach Lussier holds a B License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and is a member of both the NSCAA and the USSF. As a teacher (Anatomy & Biology) at Servite High School and the Head Varsity Soccer Coach, Mike Lussier continues his quest for personal excellence and his commitment to teaching the importance of high personal standards and worthwhile lifelong values. Coach Lussier and his wife Nicole have a 5 year old daughter Mia, a 3 year old son Cade, and are expecting their third child in February 2012.


Coach Mike Stauber

Mike Stauber – Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach

It is with great enthusiasm that the soccer program welcomes back Mike Stauber to their coaching ranks. Coach Stauber was formerly the assistant coach of the Servite varsity soccer team from 2004-2006. During that time he helped to lead the Friars to the CIF Quarterfinals in 2005, and was instrumental in the development of numerous future high profile Servite players.

Coach Stauber brings a wealth of high school, Club, College, and ODP coaching experience back with him to Servite. Prior to coming to Servite in 2004, Coach Stauber formerly served as Head Varsity Coach for El Modena HS where he led them to three league championships in just five years. From 2005-2009 Coach Stauber led the Villa Park HS program, in his time there he led them to their first CIF quarterfinals appearance in ten years. His outstanding performance as the Villa Park Head Coach gave him the opportunity to establish the soccer program at newly founded Yorba Linda HS from 2009-2011.

On the club side, Coach Stauber has formerly coached with Irvine Lasers, OJSC, Pateadores SC, and for the Los Angeles Galaxy. At the Pateadores soccer club Coach Stauber was the B93 Head Coach and the BU18 Academy Assistant Coach. While at the Pateadores he had his team promoted each year he was in charge, won three tournaments, and led them to round of sixteen in the Cal South National Cup. In 2010, he was selected by the LA Galaxy (MLS) to create and lead the BU14 Academy program. Coach Stauber currently coaches with Chelsea SC in Yorba Linda where he is the head coach of their BU14 and BU12 teams. Coach Stauber is widely respected in Orange County as is evident in his selection by the Olympic Development Program (ODP) as a staff coach for the B97 and B93 teams. As the B93 Coach he led them to a Regional Championship in 2009.

At the collegiate level Coach Stauber served as the assistant coach to Ian Woodhead at Santiago Canyon College (SCC) from 2004-2009. While at SCC Coach Stauber helped to lead their team to five straight OEC Conference Championships, five Consecutive National Rankings, and a State Championship in 2006. Coach Stauber currently serves as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Cypress College. In just two years at Cypress he has helped lead them to their first playoff appearance in the school’s history.

Coach Stauber received his BA and MA in Kinesiology from Hope International University in 2010. Coach Stauber holds a B License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and an NFHS Coaching Certification. Coach Stauber and his wife Stacy have a 5 year old daughter Haylee, a 4 year old son Aiden, and are expecting their third child in March 2012.


Jason Pridmore

Jason Pridmore – Head Junior Varsity Soccer Coach

Coach Pridmore is in his 12th year as the head JV Soccer Coach at Servite High School. In his time here at Servite he has led the JV team to two Tournament Championships (South Torrance tournament and Sonora Tournament). In 2011 Coach Pridmore led the JV team to an unprecedented third consecutive Trinity League Championship. Coach Pridmore is a 1992 graduate of Faith Academy in the Philippines and was born in Ojai in Central California.

Coach Pridmore has traveled to, and played soccer in the Philippines, China, and Thailand. His playing experience in the United States includes competing at the club and semi-professional levels. In 1999 Coach Pridmore traveled to the State of Kentucky and competed in the Kentucky Blue Grass State Championships, where he led his team in scoring with seven goals in route to the Tournament Championship. Coach Pridmore brings a wealth of semi-professional experience to Servite Soccer.

In 2010 Coach Pridmore spent time in Sunderland observing and collaborating with top coaches of their English Premier League team. In 2009, Coach Pridmore traveled to the Dominican Republic where he ran soccer camps for underprivileged children. Coach Pridmore is a member of the NSCAA and holds a NSCAA National Diploma. Coach Pridmore will stress tactical and technical development in his young JV team. He will also work hard to instill the concepts of Desire, Discipline, Dedication, and Determination expected of all Servite Soccer players as they prepare to defend their Trinity League title. Coach Pridmore is a graduate of CSUF with a Bachelors degree in Biology and is currently working fulltime as a youth minister in his church. Coach Pridmore resides in Orange with his wife Sherrey.


Daniel Coates

Daniel Coates – Assistant Junior Varsity Soccer Coach

After a stellar career as a Servite athlete and a 2011 graduate, Coach Coates enters his first year on the Servite coaching staff. During his playing career Coach Coates was a 2011 All CIF Division I selection, an OC Register 1st Team All-County Selection, a two time All Trinity League Selection, elected twice by his peers as the Servite Defensive POY, and the captain of the 2010-11 varsity soccer team.

On the club side Coach Coates played for and captained the Pateadores Boys-U19 Gold team. Together with Coach Lussier, Coach Coates helped lead the Pateadores team to numerous Tournament Championships (Surf Cup, Slammers Cup, NHB Cup, Wolfpack Tournament, Chelsea Kick Off Tournament, Celtic Cup, Cal Cup and Pateadores Cup), as well as a top two finish in all three seasons on the team.

Coach Coates will assist Coach Pridmore in all aspects of the JV team as well as working personally with all defenders in the soccer program. Coach Coates currently attends UCI, where he received a scholarship to play for the nationally ranked Anteaters. Coach Coates looks forward to following in his father’s footsteps as a strong role model to all Servite student athletes and will participate in the character development inherent in Servite soccer.

 


Coach Matt Ferren

Matt Ferren –  Frosh-Soph Soccer Coach

Coach Ferren is in his second year as a coach with the Servite Soccer Program. Coach Ferren attended Servite High School from 2000-2003 and played soccer throughout his entire time as a Friar. Coach Ferren became a member of the varsity soccer team his sophomore year. After attending Servite Coach Ferren enrolled at Cal State Fullerton where he is currently majoring in sociology and minoring in communications. Coach Ferren looks forward to completing his teaching credential upon his graduation in 2011.

Coach Ferren’s coaching career began in 2008 at Troy High School, where he was the boy’s varsity assistant coach. In addition to being the varsity assistant coach, he aided the JV team and players in their development. In his time at Troy High School he helped lead them to the CIF playoffs in each season.

Coach Ferren also coaches at the club level for Chelsea Soccer Club located in Yorba Linda. He currently coaches the boys and girls U13 teams. In just one season with the BU13 team he has successfully qualified them for promotion to the silver elite level. In addition to training two teams Coach Ferren is also responsible for the technical development of all of the Chelsea players that attend their quarterly academy program. This includes working extensively on a player’s first touch, ball control, changes of direction, and finishing. Coach Ferren will bring extensive knowledge on all these areas to Servite as he helps add to the success of our frosh-soph team.
