Christian Services
As we develop our Christian Service department, we are focusing on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy in order to more fully respond to Christ’s call to serve the poor in Matthew 25:31-45.  Although we highly encourage students to continue to volunteer in the diverse work they currently do, we also require them to focus on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, and the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. As of October 31, 2005, we only accept service hours that focus on these three areas of service.

We have also increased the number of service hours required of the freshman class and all future Servite classes.  In previous years students were required to complete 70 hours over the course of their four years.  Now, students must complete 20 hours their freshman year, 30 hours their sophomore year, 40 hours their junior year, 40 hours their senior year.

We are also incorporating spiritual and educational components to complement the direct outreach of our students, so that they may come to more fully understand Christ’s call to serve the poor.  Your son is required to attend at least one lunchtime service discussion meeting this year in order to grow in his understanding of why we serve.

In order to encourage our young men to share their gifts and talents with those outside our immediate community, we have limited the amount of hours that can be completed on the Servite campus.  We will accept only 25 school hours over their four years here.
