The Men’s Choir at Servite High School is open to all students regardless of talent. Students learn the basics of excellent singing (pitch matching, tone production, breath support, etc.), sight-reading techniques, and fundamentals of music theory. Music of various styles, languages, and periods is studied. Learning to sing Gregorian chant is an important part of the curriculum.
The choir supports the local school community by performing at funerals, masses, the open house, the fashion show, etc. We also perform several concerts each year in the theater. Students participating in the program not only fulfill a fine arts requirement, but learn skills that will help them enjoy singing for the rest of their life.
LESLIE KASANG, Choir Director, has a Bachelor of Music Education from Augustana College and a Master of Music from the University of Massachusetts.
