Graduation Requirements All courses offered at Servite High School are designed for the college and university bound student. For graduation from Servite High School, all students are required to complete 250 academic credits (Class of 2008), 260 academic credits (Class of 2009), 270 academic credits (Class of 2010), and 280 academic credits (Class of 2011). A one-year course meeting daily would provide ten (10) academic credits. All of the courses must be passed and no student may graduate from Servite with an unredeemed 'F' for a semester grade on his transcript. In addition to credit requirements, there are also specific course requirements as indicated throughout the course catalog. Course Distinctions College Preparatory (CP) Courses These courses are designed to be a challenge to the student preparing for a college education. Material covered in these courses is presented in a detailed fashion at a pace designed for all students. Honors Placement (HP) Courses The course content is essentially the same in most honors sections as it is in the college preparatory classes. Honors sections, however, are conducted at a more accelerated pace and with greater intellectual intensity. Honors courses are traditionally more competitive. Advanced Placement (AP) Courses Servite High School also participates in the nationwide Advanced Placement program of college-level instruction in high school by offering an Advanced Placement courses. Students who complete these classes are eligible to take college grade examinations prepared by the College Entrance Examination Board. Success in the examination will earn the student college credit, advanced placement in college, or both. All Servite courses are UC/CSU approved unless otherwise indicated. Program of Studies Students must take seven (7) academic courses during periods 1 through 7 for each year of enrollment. The required Priory course is the eighth (8th) period. Required courses must be taken at Servite. Summer courses may be taken to make up for a failure but cannot be taken for advancement. |
